Tyne Tees Derby Time !
Billingham Bombers are in action on Sunday night when they travel to North East rivals the Whitley Warriors (face off 6.30pm).
The Bombers resume their hunt for 2 more elusive league points to claim a play off place.
With a full squad available Bombers manager Allen Flavell is hopeful that his side can break Whitley Warriors winning run against the Bombers;
“This is our third game against the Warriors this season, both times previous, the Warriors have come out with a 4 – 1 win.”
“With only three games left, we know we need to rise to the challenge. We need to pick our game up in front of goal. It would be great to take plenty of support up the A19 and get behind the lads.”
“Whitley at home can be an intimidating fixture, but the games at Hillhead`s always prove entertaining”
Bombers welcome back to the blue line Garry Dowd. The no nonsense defender, worked alongside Terry Ward earlier in the season as defensive coach and bench coach, before turning his attentions to junior coaching.
Allen Flavell welcomes Garry`s decision to return to the ice;
“Dowdy comes with a vast amount of experience, a good set of hands and a blistering slap shot, and if things get rough, you have to be glad he is on your side”.
With Warriors out of league title contention the Tynesider`s will be playing for pride, and the opportunity to knock the Bombers out of a play off slot.
With the chase for fourth place still between Coventry and the Bombers, the midlands side look certain of picking up the points from bottom placed Newcastle vipers ENLthis weekend.
Billingham`s Under 18s are in action at the Billingham Forum Ice arena tonight, face off 6.30pm.
A win for the junior Bombers against second bottom Sutton, would confirm them as ENL U18 (North) Div 2 league title winners.
